印度1名船夫喬杜里（Gullu Chaudhary）在漂流的木箱中撿到1名女嬰，隨後趕緊將她送往醫院。對此，當地

根據《BBC》報導，當時民眾於河岸旁聽到女嬰的哭聲，卻無人願意上前幫忙，喬杜里便趕緊尋找哭聲來源，喬
杜里表示，才出生21天的女嬰被裝在印度教傳統木箱中，外頭包著1條紅圍巾。而木箱裡頭也附著1張寫有女嬰出
生時間和日期的紙，更寫道她的名字為「恒河（Ganga）」。
喬杜里將女嬰帶回家後便趕緊報警，也緊急將女嬰送往醫院檢查，預計未來會把她送往兒童收容所，當地警方已
展開調查，目前推測女嬰被遺棄的原因，可能是印度的性別比失衡，當地婦女又經常在社會上受到歧視，在貧困
社區中，女孩經常被視為經濟負擔。
當地首長阿迪亞納特（Yogi Adityanath）稱讚喬杜里是「人類無與倫比的榜樣」，更贈送他1棟房子，以表彰
喬杜里的善意，也承諾將承擔該名女嬰的撫養費用。
